Daddy Fat Sacks and Dre 3 Stacks are probably the most iconic, influential, important and incredible duo to ever grace a stage together when it comes to hip-hop music, possibly all music in general. This is a huge breath of fresh air if it’s true. This is all a rumor currently, but there has been much speculation on a new Outkast album in 2014, and with Coachella festival landing in April of that year, it only makes sense. We’ll keep you posted as more info comes out.
So as you know, we here at Rich Kids Brand are absolute fiends for good music, and Montreal’s own @Kaytranada has been serving up some fire over this last year. Now he’s making his way to Seattle for the first time ever. Along with his many remixes of artists like Janet Jackson and Danny Brown, he also released his self-titled EP earlier this year, which is a must listen. Kaytranada blends various aspects of electronic music, hip-hop, soul, and funk into his sound and it makes for music that has a timeless feel to it. He’s now on his No Peer Pressure tour, which will makes its way to Seattle’s own Chop Suey tomorrow night! With support from Tony Goods and Jerome LOL, this is going to be a crazy one and just in time for Halloween! Tickets are available HERE. Doors are at 8. We’ll see you there!
In the mean time, enjoy this video of Kaytranada’s infamous Boiler Room set from back in April.
Now this one is a beauty. Arguably the biggest record to release this year, just got some luxury treatment. Daft Punk’s newest work Random Access Memories is now available in a deluxe box set. The box set comes loaded with a double vinyl copy of the album decorated with gold and silver foil labels, as well as a pair of gold and silver plated, metal encased, USB drives containing all the music, bonus content, and an array of videos. You’ll also find schematics for building your own Robot costume and helmet, a 56-page hardcover book of images from recording sessions, and much much more. It is available now and the damage is only $275. If you’re purist of the robots, you gotta grab this one right in time for holiday season.
Just in case you missed this news last night, Kanye West finally proposed to Kim Kardashian. He did it in Yeezus fashion by pulling out all the stops and proposing in front of friends and family at AT&T Park in San Francisco. He arranged for the jumbotron to read ”PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!!!” and a 50-piece orchestra to play their favorite music in the background. Seattle is pushing out great music non-stop as of late, and we’ve got another incredible project to present to you today. The Flavr Blue is one of Seattle’s newest trios, consisting of musicians Lace, Hollis and Parker, and today they released the Bright Vices EP. The 5 track project consists of crispy new wave production complimented by refreshing vocals with a touch of synth to round out the undeniable cocktail of sound. Their iconic approach to musical creation shines brightest with this new project, pun intended. Hollis glows over tracks like No Remedy and We Can Go Blind, while Parker and Lace match her shine on tracks like Surrender and Magnetic, the latter of which Esquire Magazine featured today upon it’s release.
The downtempo dish, Hearts Racing, is the song that really caught my attention upon first listen. This song truly captures not only the dynamic style The Flavr Blue has, but it also showcases the versatility of all three of them. Parker’s haunting, slow grind breakbeat that transitions into an uptempo bridge, only to drop you back into the clouds is effortless and elegant. Hollis’ airy vocals are right at home on the track, and as she says in her verse, she has you chasing the high. Lace’s sultry entrance into the song freezes time for a moment, and actually allows you to visualize what you’re hearing if that makes sense.
Overall the entire project is an great body of work, and an excellent listen no matter if you’re a fan of R & B, Downtempo, Ambient, House, New Wave, Pop, Electro, Indie, or whatever else you want to call it. The Flavr Blue has arrived, and they’re here to stay. You can see download Bright Vices for a limited time for FREE from The Flavr Blue’s official site, or you can purchase it for only $3 on iTunes. Show your support and enjoy the jams.
