Man, rappers are having a rough time these days when it comes to endorsements. Lil’ Wayne is dealing with Emmett Till references, Rick Ross dropped Reebok for his verse on “U.O.E.N.O.”, and now Tyler the Creator got one of his commercials pulled by Mountain Dew for being “too racist”. Here’s what he had to say about the ad getting pulled from TV. We’ve also added it below just in case you haven’t seen it yet.
“I guess people are claiming that it’s racist, which… you know, that wasn’t even portrayed in that commercial, there’s no type of hate being portrayed in that work of art at all — which I’m confused by. But this older black dude, Dr. Boyce Watkins, I guess he found it racist because I was portraying stereotypes, which is ridiculous because, one, all of those dudes [in the line-up] are my friends. Two, they’re all basically in their own clothes. It was originally supposed to be just two dudes, but Garrett from Trash Talk came with his friend and other people had showed up, so I just put all of them in that line-up, if you really wanna know the truth. Three, no [commenters] saw that commercial and said, this is racist. Everyone either said, “Wow, this is ridiculous, it’s a goat talking,” or they said, “Wow, this is the dumbest, why would they even make this?” So for [Watkins] to nitpick and notice that, clearly shows his state of mind is on some other sh– that I can’t comprehend, for him to actually sit there and for him to notice that it’s all blacks [in the lineup]. That wasn’t my intention.”
Beyonce is the new face of H&M for swimwear and she’s also throwing in new music into their commercials. Here’s a new ad for her campaign which premiers her new song “Standing on the Sun”. More like a snippet of the song but pretty sure we’ll get the full thing real soon.
For all you anti-iPhoners out there, Samsung has finally released the first TV ad for the Galaxy S4. Looks like they’re targeting the translation feature in this one to start with. An interesting target market to go with off the bat since it seems like the phone could have much better features than just that. Plus we all know there’s no phones at the dinner table!

Since Microsoft just redesigned their Outlook service, it was only right that they used some fresh new music for the commercial. So they decided to go with Seattle’s very own Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ track “Can’t Hold Us”. This on top of the All-Star Weekend campaign are two huge moves back to back.

Budweiser takes the emotional route with their brand new Super Bowl commercial. Love how they showed the lifespan of the clydesdale all the way up to becoming an official Budweiser horse.
The Super Bowl commercials are pouring in early and for this first one we’ve got Lincoln with their Jimmy Fallon/Twitter commercial. Nothing really stood out as a “wow” factor in this one but we see what they’re going with.
