Justin Verlander becomes Highest Paid MLB Pitcher
Justin Verlander just signed a new contract to stay with the Detroit Tigers that will give him $180 million over the next seven years. There is even an optional eighth year that would push the deal to $202 million. Verlander is now the highest paid pitcher in the MLB, surpassing Seattle’s very own Felix Hernandez who we signed for $175 million this February. Verlander tweeted, “I love this city & the fans – couldn’t be more excited to spend my career here! We’re going to bring a World Series to Detroit!!!”. $200 million can buy a lot of things, only time will tell if it will buy a World Series for Detroit.

Mariners Adding Huge Display at Safeco Field: Largest in MLB
Some more great news in Seattle, the Mariners are making a huge addition to Safeco Field. Not some hall of fame player or anything, but the biggest display screen in the entire league. The display is 201.5 feet by 56.7 feet, making it bigger than the jumbo display at Dallas Cowboys Stadium. It is also ten times the size of the ballpark’s current video screen and has a viewing area of 2,182 42-inch TVs. Click HERE for more info.
