Well would you look at that. Drake just dropped his album “Nothing was the Same” and the hit track “Hold on We’re Going Home” is already platinum (1 million digital purchases on iTunes). Oh and then Eminem who doesn’t even have an album out goes platinum with his most recent track “Berzerk” (in less than three months). Drake is killing it right now and is the talk of all rap music, but rappers better watch their release dates once Eminem drops his album. Mark your calendars, “Marshall Mathers LP is coming November 5th.
Looks like Drake is starting to make those all-around moves like Jay Z. He’s just been named a Global Ambassador for the Toronto Raptors and has been brought on for rebranding and business development of the team. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of swag Drake can add to the squad. He’s always been seeing reppin’ for the Raptors since they’re from his home town and will surely get a lot more players interested in playing there kind of like Hov did for the Brooklyn Nets. It looks like Jay Z’s share in the Brooklyn Nets will end up in good hands, Jason Kidd’s to be exact. Back when Jay bought his share, Jason Kidd was the one that convinced him to do so. So it’s only right that Hov returns the favor and sells his share to the new coach. Jay Z had to sell his share in the Brooklyn Nets in order to be a sports agent. Roc Nation sports is doing better than ever by signing all the best athletes in just about every sport. Their most recent and best acquisition was OKC’s Kevin Durant. Click HERE for the full story.

There we go! I knew this album was way too good not to do some big numbers. Wale has officially debuted at #1 and sold 158,000 copies in the first week. This was seriously Wale’s best work to date and you can tell by how much he spazzes on each track. Clap for him.
And there it is! Jay-Z becomes an NBA agent and the first person he picks up is super baller Kevin Durant. Not too many details on the deal available yet but I’m pretty sure ESPN will be all over this tonight. We thought Lebron would be first since they’re best friends but this is also a crucial pick up. Stoked to see him as a part of the Roc Nation fam.
Well they didn’t actually make a zillion dollars, but they’re getting pretty damn close. “Fast & Furious 6″ made $275 million worldwide this weekend and the franchise is currently on pace to break a billion dollars altogether.
Looks like the deal that has been talked about all weekend is finally going through. Yahoo’s financial board has approved the $1.1 billion acquisition of Tumblr which will officially be announced on Monday. Yahoo was really the only company going after the blogging platform and still offered such a large amount. Tumblr CEO David Karp will stay at Yahoo for four more years and make sure everything flows the right way. Click HERE for the full story.
Google glasses aren’t even available to the public yet, but some establishments are already banning them. Belltown’s 5 Point Bar is one of those establishments and is the first Seattle business to do so. The Owner, Dave Meinert posted “For the record, The 5 Point is the first Seattle business to ban in advance Google Glasses, And ass kickings will be encouraged for violators.” on their Facebook page. He did later admit that it was somewhat of a marketing stunt, but at the same time did not want the people in his bar filmed or photographed.
This would be one awesome collaboration. Kendrick Lamar recently met up with actor and recent music video director Shia LaBeouf to talk about possibly working together. Here’s what K. Dot had to say about the meeting and the possibility of having Shia direct one of his videos.
“We actually had a meeting… Shia LaBeouf, he has a crazier career than mine, but once we really do sit down and lock in, it’s gonna be insane… He wanted to do a video, he had a few ideas… that was the time I was recording the album and going on the road so I couldn’t really sit down for a period of time.”
