Seems as though alot of these companies that began the web boom back in the 90s are looking revamp their branding to keep up with the times and new companies with very streamlined, modern looking logos and imagery. Ebay is the latest to do this, announcing this morning their new logo. They had this to say in a press release:

We retained core elements of our logo, including our iconic color palette. The eBay logo is known the world over, so changing it was not a decision made lightly. The time felt right.
