Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Thrift Shop” goes 5x Platinum

It seems like not too long ago we were reporting that Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ hit single “Thrift Shop” went 4x platinum. Well those days are over because this just in today, the track has now reached the 5x Platinum mark. You know what that means, 5,000,000 people have purchased the song at this point. Congratulations to Macklemore and Ryan Lewis on their amazing success, especially while staying independent. Everyone in Seattle is more than proud of these two and if they’re not then there’s some serious hater issues going on there.

It seems like it was only days ago that we found out about “Thrift Shop” going double platinum. Well those days are over because the song just went quadruple platinum! That’s right, over 4,000,000 copies sold at this point. Can’t wait to see how much further it’ll go in the next few months. Congratulations to both Macklemore and Ryan Lewis on such an amazing success. All this and it’s still independent music from Seattle.

A$AP Rocky’s Album tops the Charts

It’s no surprise that A$AP Rocky’s album did very well selling 141,003 copies in the first week. He’s always had a core fan base that comes through for him and the album was an incredible piece of work. Even with the project leaking about a month early everything still went well on the sales chart to put A$AP Rocky at the top with “Long.Live.A$AP”.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Thrift Shop” goes Platinum

5 months after surfacing on the internet, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ hit single “Thrift Shop” has gone platinum. Couldn’t be more proud of these guys putting on for Seattle and bringing a brand new sound to the rest of the world. Can’t deny that whenever this track comes on in the club everyone goes absolutely crazy. The song is currently number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Kendrick Lamar’s “Good Kid, m.A.A.d. City” Sells 116,215 copies in 1st Week

Considering that Kendrick Lamar put out an album the same week taylor Swift put out “Red”, these numbers are incredible. Having a debut album sell over 100k is quite the accomplishment these days. “Good Kid, m.A.A.d. City” is currently sitting at 116,215 copies sold.

Katy Perry Passes Michael Jackson for Most #1 Hits on a Single Album

The numbers are in and Katy Perry has officially passed Michael Jackson for most number one hits on one album. She is now at 6 while Michael Jackson had 5. The song that moved up to #1 is “The One that Got Away” on the album “Teenage Dream”.

Young Jeezy Debuts at #3 on Billboard Charts

It’s not that bad coming in 3rd place when you’re behind Adele and Michael Buble. Young Jeezy ended up selling 232,938 copies and securing the 3rd spot on the Billboard charts. Lots of promotion went into “Hustler’s Ambition” and Jeezy is still looking for the guy that leaked his album.

The Numbers Are In: Mac Miller Sets Billboard History

Well the first week’s numbers are in and Mac Miller’s album “Blue Slide Park” has set billboard history by being the first album in 16 years to debut independently at number 1. Pretty big deal here considering that he is not signed to any major labels and relies solely on the support of his fans. Congrats to Mac Miller and the whole Most Dope movement on all 418,915 units.

It’s been a crazy week for Mac Miller as he released Blue Slide Park and shot up to the number 1 spot on the Billboard charts. Keep in mind he’s ahead of artists like Adele and even the Twilight soundtrack. With 40,000 copies of BSP pre-sold he is projected so sell over 100,000 in the first week, setting an independent artist record. This has not been done since Snoop Dogg released Tha Dogg Pound in 1992. For more information watch the video, congrats on the success Mac.
