Apple Adding Surround Sound to their Macbook Pros?

While everyone’s ooh-ing and ahh-ing over the iPad, another major Apple product category could be undergoing some serious renovations: The MacBook Pro.According to a recently unearthed patent filing, Apple could be working on amping up the audio on future MacBooks by adding surround-sound speakers to the notebook. If carried out, Apple’s implementation would position a speaker on each side of the display to deliver treble, a speaker at the top of the keyboard for mid-range frequencies, and one at the bottom end of the device for bass. That’s a lot of clicks. Since the launch of the Mac App Store in January this year, there have been 100 million unique downloads recorded. Of course Microsoft is also reporting the launch of their own app store to go with Windows 8.

Microsoft Buys Skype for $8.5 Billion!

Now I don’t know what your paycheck looks like, but the guy who started Skype just got one (yes just one) that was worth $8.5 billion. Microsoft’s acquisition of Skype is it’s biggest yet as an effort to try and catch up to Apple and Google. A lot of the articles I have read say that Microsoft feels it is slumping in competition with the two leaders (Apple and Google) and wants to advance its market in the Smart Phone business. With the purchase of Skype they will now be able to adapt it to their smart phone’s video chat features. I’m interested in seeing how this develops. Lots of cash spent, this better pay off.
