Seattle is pushing out great music non-stop as of late, and we’ve got another incredible project to present to you today. The Flavr Blue is one of Seattle’s newest trios, consisting of musicians Lace, Hollis and Parker, and today they released the Bright Vices EP. The 5 track project consists of crispy new wave production complimented by refreshing vocals with a touch of synth to round out the undeniable cocktail of sound. Their iconic approach to musical creation shines brightest with this new project, pun intended. Hollis glows over tracks like No Remedy and We Can Go Blind, while Parker and Lace match her shine on tracks like Surrender and Magnetic, the latter of which Esquire Magazine featured today upon it’s release.
The downtempo dish, Hearts Racing, is the song that really caught my attention upon first listen. This song truly captures not only the dynamic style The Flavr Blue has, but it also showcases the versatility of all three of them. Parker’s haunting, slow grind breakbeat that transitions into an uptempo bridge, only to drop you back into the clouds is effortless and elegant. Hollis’ airy vocals are right at home on the track, and as she says in her verse, she has you chasing the high. Lace’s sultry entrance into the song freezes time for a moment, and actually allows you to visualize what you’re hearing if that makes sense.
Overall the entire project is an great body of work, and an excellent listen no matter if you’re a fan of R & B, Downtempo, Ambient, House, New Wave, Pop, Electro, Indie, or whatever else you want to call it. The Flavr Blue has arrived, and they’re here to stay. You can see download Bright Vices for a limited time for FREE from The Flavr Blue’s official site, or you can purchase it for only $3 on iTunes. Show your support and enjoy the jams.
Seattle has been making big moves in the music game as of late, and here’s another look at a local artist that’s making a big splash. He just recently dropped his Reinvented EP, and it’s a dope mix of dancehall, house, and electro. Trona is able to easily navigate between various genre’s and the outcome makes for one great EP. You can listen to it on his soundcloud page now. And be sure to be on the lookout for more of his music very soon.
No matter what you have to say about Chris Brown, you can’t deny that all he does it make hits over and over again. Here’s his new music video with Afrojack for “As Your Friend”.
Looks like there’s a new king of “Likes” on YouTube and that is PSY’s “Gangnam Style” music video. If you haven’t heard this song or seen the video by now then you must not own a smart phone or ever get on the computer. That’s fine and all, but we’ve got it below just in case. The old record on YouTube was 1.5 million “likes”, but it has been shattered now with 2.5 million likes on “Gangnam Style”. This guy might be one of the biggest one hit wonders in the world or there’s much more to come. Can’t wait to see the next project PSY releases.
Chances are this album is going to get remixed alot. Ellie Goulding’s follow-up to her debut album Lights is set to drop very soon. The title of the new record is Halcyon, and will feature the original version of this track, along with a ton of others which I’m sure will be incredible. In the mean time, listen to this dope ass remix of Anything Could Happen by party-ready producers Birdy Nam Nam.
Bootlegger Ken Loi drops a new edit of two songs that were huge hits in the EDM genre this year. Afrojack’s “Rocking the House” and Skrilex & The Doors’ “Breaking a Sweat(Zedd Remix)” get mashed up on this new edit. Pretty sick mix if you ask me. You can listen to the track below and at Ken Loi’s Soundcloud page.
“Rich is not what you have, it’s who you have beside you”. We live by that, but we also like to educate our viewers on what some of the most successful people are doing and how they got there. Rest assure they would have never gotten there without their friends and family by their side at all times (who you have around you).
