McDonald’s, like all other fast food restaurants, is starting to take a healthier approach when it comes to improving their food. On April 22nd Micky D’s will be replacing their classic Egg McMuffin with a Egg “White Delight” McMuffin. According to The Daily Meal “The egg whites are cooked free-form on the griddle with a spatula, and will join a slice of American cheese and Canadian bacon on a whole-grain English muffin. Egg whites will also be made available on all the other breakfast sandwiches the company offers.” The sandwich is 250 calories which is 50 less than the original.
So trust me I’ve been waiting for this one to come out for a while. Being the only major fast food fan at RK, I actually anticipate days like these. They were supposed to come out yesterday, waited in the drive through, and the lady behind the speaker said they didn’t have them yet! Oh well can’t complain cause I got two of them today, the supreme version. Now since Taco Bell sold over 250 million of the original Locos Taco, these were very highly anticipated by more people than just me. Pulling up to the drive through I knew these were going to be delicious, and I was right! Let’s not get carried away here, fast food and especially Taco Bell is probably the worst for your body, but as far as taste goes, they were great. Another cool thing about em is that the original Locos Taco left a bunch of orange seasoning residue on your fingers, but they toned it down for these ones. They taste just like cool ranch Doritos and it almost seems like the shells were made stronger because these ones didn’t crack as easy. I would give these cool ranch tacos a 5 out of 5, exactly what I expected. Make sure to go and grab one for yourself if you don’t believe me, hopefully they’re around for a long time.
In other great news, we finally have a date for when Taco Bell will be launching their “Cool Ranch” Doritos Locos Tacos. The regular Doritos taco found tremendous success in the fast food chain (over 350 million sold) so why not try the next best thing, Ranch! Look for these to be hitting a Taco Bell near you March 7th. Of course we’ll be writing a food review.
David Novak, the CEO of Yums Brand, recently reported to investors that since its release last March, Taco Bell’s Doritos Locos Taco has sold more than 325 million units. This has made the Taco the fast food restaurant’s greatest creation ever and will continue to stay on the menu. Rumor has it that there’s a cool ranch taco coming out very soon also. Can’t wait!
Being the fast-food giant that they are, McDonald’s has decided to go a step further and open up their first vegetarian restaurant. The first location will be in India and won’t open until next year, but could possibly also move to the United States if all goes well. Micky D’s is also planning on releasing their very own curly fries which is even better news. Stay tuned for more information.
So a bunch of us at the office bought some of the new Taco Bell Doritos “Locos Tacos” earlier just to see what all the buzz was about. According to Joe (marketing) the new taco is just a Doritos chip when you bite in but the flavor gets diminished quickly by all the meat and then turns into a regular taco. I’d probably say the same thing, the Doritos taste is something that you get right away but it doesn’t last long. Still a pretty good taco and much better than the regular ones, the biggest downfall would have to be the residue it leaves behind. Being that we are on computers a lot of time, having orange keyboards is not all that great. I’d give this taco a 7 out 10. If you don’t come in with too high of expectations then it’s great, put it up on the pedestal and you might be disappointed.
YES!!! Just received some of the best news in fast food history. Taco Bell has been sampling it’s Doritos flavored taco shells in Ohio for a while now but just announced that they will be going nationwide starting March 8th. They will be available in both cool ranch and nacho cheese flavor. Thank You Taco Bell!
I’m sure you’ve thought of this at least once, but it’s actually starting to happen. White Castle (Harold and Kumar) in Lafayette, Indiana is now serving domestic beers and wine for $3 and $4. They are considering incorporating hard liquor as it has been requested many times by loyal customers. Starbucks is also starting to serve beer in some locations and Burger King is experimenting with it. For more information on the matter click here.
