Forbes breaks down how Mayweather could make up to $250 Million and beyond under his new deal with CBS/Showtime.
Mayweather is likely looking at a guarantee of around $200 million for the six-fight deal. Pay-per-view revenues will push that total past $250 million. How much past $250 million depends on the quality and marketability of his opponents, as well as Mayweather staying undefeated.
In making the announcement, Mayweather also confirmed a May 4 fight with Robert Guerrero which will mark the fighter’s Showtime debut.
Widely recognized as boxing’s top pound-for-pound fighter, Mayweather (43-0, 26 KOs) has been a part of boxing’s four biggest non-heavyweight pay-per-view events.
The 35-year-old fighter was listed as the highest paid athlete in 2012 by Forbes after earning $85 million from two fights against Victor Ortiz and Miguel Cotto. Filipino southpaw Manny Pacquiao ranked second with earnings of $62 million.
According to the statement, Mayweather averages more than 1 million pay-per-view buys per event, the highest of any boxer, and if all six fights take place it could result in the richest individual athlete deal in all of sports.
In making the announcement, Mayweather also confirmed a May 4 fight with Robert Guerrero which will mark the fighter’s Showtime debut.
“I got a divorce,” a smiling Mayweather said of leaving HBO, his longtime television home. “I’m married again.”
“I couldn’t have asked for a better deal,” he said.
We all expected Mayweather to hop on Twitter after the fight and go on a rant bout how Manny got knocked the F out, but it didn’t go down like that. Money May took the classy approach and had this to say…
“You live and you learn. The only thing [Pacquiao] can do is rejuvenate himself and bounce back like a true champion. Marquez is a true champion, Manny Pacquiao is a true champion, both of them went out there and put on a good performance, and that’s a good thing for the sport of boxing. I wish Pacquiao nothing but the best. I wish that he can bounce back and he can recoup from this…I feel bad for him, honestly. I really feel bad for him. There’s a difference in the ways you can get knocked out. See, when a guy gets knocked out and he can get up, they sit him on his stool, they rub his back, he go home and ice himself, you know, he go to the hospital and get checked out and he’s okay, that’s one thing. But, when you gotta wake a guy up with smelling salt and he got a concussion and he gotta go to the hospital overnight, that’s crucial. I mean, that’s close to death.”

Looks like Floyd let that hair go while he was in jail and he was recently spotted with 50 Cent showing off his new look. What do you think of Mayweather’s new hair? Should he keep it going?
Since Floyd Mayweather isn’t able to workout as much as he used to while in jail his lawyers are demanding that he be put on house arrest for the remainder of his 3 month sentence. They are also saying that if he doesn’t get released to house arrest as soon as possible he may never fight again due to the lack of exercise. This is a very true assumption but should someone really be released from jail because of what they do for a living? Click HERE for more information.
