Mac Miller’s Forbes interview (Video)

mac

Mac Miller did this interview a year ago when he was one of the richest rappers in the game and now he’s back with another one. Can’t complain about being on Forbes at only 21 years old with no major label deal.

Mac Miller x Prodigy: “Toca Tuesdays” Freestyle

maca

If you’re one of the young cats in the game and get thrown into a Toca Tuesdays cypher with Prodigy of Mobb Deep, then you better deliver. Mac Miller didn’t disappoint and brought the bars. Prodigy killed it as always, that’s a legend right there. Enjoy. “Watching Movies with the Sound Off” in stores now.

We knew this was coming. Rap Radar’s Elliott Wilson is back with a new season of “The Truth” and this time he’s off the couch and in the streets. Here’s his opinion of the whole Kanye vs. J. Cole album release date.

Album Review: Mac Miller’s “Watching Movies with the Sound Off”

macmiller

Mac Miller’s album officially dropped online today and you can already tell people are going crazy about it. Mainly because this one is all about his actual rapping skills improving x 100. If you’re looking for a happy-go-lucky Mac Miller with feel good songs for your next turn up session, this ins’t the album for you. If you’re looking for complex lyricism with meanings that are out of this world over your head, then yes… pick this one up and listen close. It’s not one of those albums that you can just listen through once and make a decision, hence why me review is coming so late after the leak. According to Mac himself, he’s been locked up in his studio like a man on Death Row recording non-stop and has an arsenal of about 500-600 unreleased songs. Imagine having to narrow that down to 19 tracks, that alone was one of the most impressive aspects when composing this album.

I might’ve lied earlier when I said there aren’t any turn up tracks on the album, because most of the bonus tracks have somewhat of a party feeling to them. “O.K.” is actually the first Tyler, The Creator production to ever hit an actual major album. Mac himself called it an honor to get Tyler’s first ever production. The repetitive “Mac, Mac, Mac” can get a little annoying for some but I personally thought it added a humorous aspect to the entire song. “Red Dot” with Action Bronson is also another dope bonus track, crazy to think both of these features are just bonuses because they are high quality tracks.

Mac also does some singing on this one and doesn’t even sound that bad. You have to understand that he’s an all around musician and not just some rapper. If you pay close attention to some of Mac’s Vines, he’s pretty good at just about any instrument (he can even play the guitar behind his head lol).

“Suplexes inside of Complexes and Duplexes” is probably the most impressive move on the entire album. Why? Well because he got jay Electronica to step in the studio. We can barely even get Jay Electronica to make music of his own so him stepping up and working with Mac is one huge statement. For some reason there still seem to be a lot of Mac Miller haters out there because of his persona, but come on… Jay Electronica! Nobody does that. Mac does get murdered on his own song when Jay steps to the mic, but that’s just expected and doesn’t dwell on Mac’s skills at all.

Like I said before, this album is full of lyrical genius but don’t go looking for a top ten hit. He did release a music video for “Watching Movies” and that’s got to be one of my favorite songs on the album. I’m sure a lot of other reviews will bash him for not making too many singles, but does that really matter when you’re doing everything with no label and end up on the Forbes’ list for one of the highest earning rappers at 21 years old? Nope.

Make sure to go out and buy this album. Not only because it’s a great project but also because of the fact that he’s done this all on his own with no major label help. The end.

DJ Drama interviews J. Cole (Video)

Freddie Gibbs: “Eastside Moonwalker” (Music Video)

Being that both Freddie Gibbs and Michael Jackson are from Gary, Indiana, it makes sense that “Eastside Moonwalker” was chosen for the title of this song. Here’s the new video for that song!

Chris Brown ft. Aaliyah: “Don’t Think they Know” (Music Video)

Really like what Chris Brown did here by resurrecting Aaliyah for his new track “Don’t Think They Know”. The visuals are dope too how they just pick certain colors

Jay-Z goes on Twitter Rant

Screen Shot 2013-06-17 at 12.16.57 PM

This isn’t really a rant, but Jay-Z is back and he wants everyone to know. Who else you know in the game that already has a platinum album without it being out? That’s right. Samsung has already bought 1,000,000 copies of “Magna Carta Holy Grail” and the album drops 4th of July. 2013 is turning into the best music year ever.
