Pictured above is the Fukushima Nuclear Plant in Japan, it is now leaking 300 tons of radioactive water into the Pacific Ocean a day. It took a severe beating back in March of 2011 when the Tsunami hit Japan, and has been continuing to leak contaminated water into the Pacific Ocean ever since. The main problem here being that it is actually getting worse and worse as time goes on. Water samples taken underwater near Fukushima showed extremely higher levels of radiation than the samples taken right after the March 2011 Tsunami, states the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO). The Japanese government is now reporting that Fukushima is dumping 300 tons of contaminated water into the Ocean a day and estimates that the cleanup could take up to 40 years and $11 billion. For all of Japan’s sake, and being that we share the Pacific Ocean, we can only hope this is resolved before it devastates Japan and eventually reaches it’s way over to the West Coast of the US.
