Somebody’s getting fired at J.C. Penney today or their PR department is having a field day. A new billboard went up and is causing a buzz storm all across the internet. Mainly because the tea kettle on the billboard resembles Hitler.
Looks like Mac Miller is letting it all hang out for his next album “Watching Movies with the Sound Off”. Album in stores June 18th. Parental advisory…
As you may already know, Eminem is currently working on his next album. Chris Rock took this selfie the other night suggesting that he might be doing some sort of skit for it. We can’t verify that 100% but it’s a good guess. There’s not too many details about the new album but as we know, anything Eminem puts out will go diamond. Can’t wait.
Even though Meek Mill is running around doing shows and telling the crowds to yell “Fuck Reebok”, it looks like Rick Ross is keeping things positive about the whole situation. Him, Swizz Beatz, and the CEO of Reebok Uli Becker still met up to take this photo after discussing the situation. In the end Rick Ross is still dropped from the brand but handled it the right way. Basically it’s one of those “Let’s still be friends” situations when you break up with someone. Here’s what the CEO had to say about the meeting.
“It’s unfortunate because he’s a great guy, he just has stupid advisors around him.”
These will be out on May 4th and are called the “Pure Platinum” edition of the Lebron X. The platinum reflects winning a championship which is the best accomplishment in the NBA, kind of like an album going platinum. Get it now? These will retail for $180.
Now usually people think it’s a big deal when someone gets their significant other’s name tatted on them, but Amber Rose went the extra mile and got Wiz’s entire face on her arm. It’s safe to say that they’re going to be a pretty strong couple considering Wiz wanting to be with her ever since he got into the rap game and having a child together. Great artwork on the tat by the way.
Is it just me or is Jay-Z doing the “Blue Steel” look on the cover of this issue of TIME? Can’t wait to go pick it up today. One of the most influential people in the world hands down.
When you make the long trip down from New York to Miami to see one of your favorite hoopers, it must be very frustrating to spend all that money and find out that the player is sitting on the bench for that game. That’s exactly what happened to the man above when he came down to Miami to watch Lebron James play. He made a pretty cool sign displaying how much he spent only to be let down. Maybe next time bud…
One of the coolest covers to come out this year from VIBE will feature both Kendrick Lamar and Miguel. It’s funny to think that they’re somewhat “new” to the industry but are already considered classic artists. Here’s a little excerpt from the issue.
You’re both carrying the torch as the leaders of the new generation. How do you define musical genius?
KENDRICK: Somebody that don’t really have any boundaries, that’s not confined to the traditional structure of a song or traditional sounds. When you listen to “Adorn,” it feels like he’s not even trying to structure a radio joint. He just felt the music, felt the instrumentation and wrote the track.
MIGUEL: Good looks, bro. My favorite artists always took whatever they loved out of music and made it their own. It was their take on it. Kendrick is one of those people where I can hear Ice Cube’s first two albums’ influence. I get the street edge, but then I hear like the poetic player, smoothness, creativity and smart street savvy of Andre on Aquemini. That juxtaposition is what I hear in Kendrick, but it’s his own take. If you listen to my shit, you’re gonna hear Prince, Marvin Gaye, Led Zeppelin or a little bit of the Beatles. That’s where I’m pulling from.
Just when you thought Jay-Z was doing a lot by starting a new tour with Justin Timberlake, he pulls another huge power move and launches Roc Nation Sports. The agency’s first client is Yankees 2nd baseman Robinson Cano. If Jay-Z wants to become a full fledged sports Agent he would have to give up his part ownership of the Brooklyn Nets. Here’s what Hov had to say about the new deal…
“Because of my love of sports, it was a natural progression to form a company where we can help top athletes in various sports the same way we have been helping artists in the music industry for years.”
Then Cano also adds:
“At this point in my career, I am ready to take a more active role in my endeavors on and off the field. I am confident that the pairing of Roc Nation Sports and CAA Sports will be essential in helping me accomplish my short- and long-term goals. I am making this important decision now so I can keep my focus on helping the Yankees succeed in 2013, while minimizing any distractions for me and my teammates.”
