These guys have always been one of my favorite duos, been listening to them since they were called The Dean’s List back in the day. They have a similar setup to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis as far as how the group is formed, Sonny Shotz is the artist and Alexander Mendoza does all the production. Their work is always top notch, from the beats to the lyrics, and this album/mixtape is no different. Definitely some of the most under rated cats in the game. You can get the album version on iTunes, or grab the free mixtape version HERE.

The Breakfast Club is back once again with the best interviews in the bizz and this time Ryan Leslie stopped by the studio to talk about his $1 million verdict, past relationship with Cassie, and much more. Here you go…

It’s no surprise this deal went through, if you look at past documentaries of Jay-Z’s career Timbaland has always been there supplying some serious fire when it comes to instrumentals. Jay-Z released the picture above last night with a caption saying “Roc Nation welcomes Timbaland to the family.”
It was only a matter of time til HudMo got scooped up by someone! Not at all surprised that it was Kanye’s camp after Mohawke helped to create some of the biggest hits off G.O.O.D’s Cruel Summer album last year. One of the 2 members of TNGHT, Hudson Mohawke’s management took to Twitter first to make the announcement, and then following up via email, United’s Simon White confirmed that HudMo “signed to Very GOOD Beats as a producer this week.” Very GOOD Beats is the production component of G.O.O.D. Music that also counts Hit-Boy among its roster.
Interested to see what happens next! Mohawke helped to create the beat for Mercy, along with 4-5 other tracks on the Cruel Summer album. Check out one of his tracks from his TNGHT project with fellow producer Lunice.
It now makes sense why DJ Khaled is pushing his new album so much, he’s got rent to pay. All jokes aside DJ Khaled may be facing eviction from his apartment in Miami after being charged to pay $55,000 in back rent according to TMZ. Khaled had agreed to pay two payments of $66,000 for rent when he signed his lease and made the first payment but never came through on the second one. So now the owner of the building has filed an eviction notice and is suing Khaled for the left over money. Hopefully this all gets cleared up and doesn’t ruin his album promo buzz too much.

This is where you like to see producers, in their own element and showing us how everything is done. AraabMuzik and Danny Brown got together recently to make a song from scratch, literally from nothing to something. Araab kills it on the MPC and production as always, while Danny Brown explains how he approaches writing for the song and also going off top. This video was really impressive because it sounds like the song is about to be perfect with the two of them on it. Here’s the studio footage…
So there’s been a few new beefs developing this Summer in hip-hop if you haven’t noticed. It all started off with the Drake and Lil’ Wayne vs. Pusha T, then Drake vs. Chris Brown, and now we have a new one with A$AP Rocky vs. producer SpaceGhost Purp. Apparently SpaceGhost said that the entire A$AP Mob stole his style and that’s why he is no longer working with them. So A$AP Rocky was interviewed on the red carpet the other day at an award show and had this to say about it…
So most of these rappers stunt by wearing Givenchy shirts, well Swizz Beatz just took it to another level and got himself a Givenchy surfboard. No price for this one but seeing that a t-shirt is $800 the surfboard must have been a lot more.
This one goes way back and just goes to show how long both producers have been in the game. Both Mannie Fresh and Swizz Beatz will go down as legendary producers.
Even though we may not hear much about Timbaland at all times, he is always working hard on new things and perfecting his art form. Timbaland stopped by the Breakfast Club earlier this morning and gave them the low-down on working with Missy Elliot, Jay-z, and an Aaliyah collaboration with Drake.
