We did not expect this footage to come so soon, but here’s what happened right after Chad Johnson got released from jail the other day for head-butting his wife Evelyn Lozada. The Miami Dolphins cut him and it ended up on Hardknocks. Hopefully Chad Johnson can get everything together and still continue to play football as he is one of the best receivers this game has ever seen.
Looks like Calvin “Megatron” Johnson just passed up Larry Fitzgerald as the highest paid receiver in the NFL. It was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter that that Johnson just signed an 8-year $132 million contract with the Lions, $60 million guaranteed if he plays through the 2019 season. Uh oh… more drug stories. According to The Chicago Tribune, Bears receiver Sam Hurd accepted a kilogram of cocaine from a confidential informant and an undercover agent posing as a drug supplier. Hurd was charged with conspiring to purchase a kilo of cocaine with intent to distribute. At the Wednesday night meeting Hurd had set up to buy anywhere from 1 to 5 kilos of cocaine and 1,000 pound of marijuana for distribution in the Chicago area. The Bears issued this statement about the incident.
“We are aware of Sam’s arrest and are continuing to gather details surrounding it. We are disappointed whenever these circumstances arise. We will deal with them appropriately once we have all the information.”
