Rick Ross meets with Reebok CEO

ceo

Even though Meek Mill is running around doing shows and telling the crowds to yell “Fuck Reebok”, it looks like Rick Ross is keeping things positive about the whole situation. Him, Swizz Beatz, and the CEO of Reebok Uli Becker still met up to take this photo after discussing the situation. In the end Rick Ross is still dropped from the brand but handled it the right way. Basically it’s one of those “Let’s still be friends” situations when you break up with someone. Here’s what the CEO had to say about the meeting.

“It’s unfortunate because he’s a great guy, he just has stupid advisors around him.”

lilwayne

So you know how Rick Ross rapped about drugging a woman and then Reebok dropped their endorsement shortly after because of women protesting outside of the Reebok store in NY? Well now the same thing is happening to Lil’ Wayne and Mountain Dew after he referenced Emmett Till in one of his songs. Till’s family wants Mountain Dew to drop their endorsement due to the lyrics. We’ll see how this one plays out.

Dj Khaled ft. Drake x Rick Ross x Lil’ Wayne: “No New Friends”

khaled

A little late with this one but still worth the post if you haven’t heard the new track yet. Here’s Drake featuring Lil’ Wayne and Rick Ross with “No New Friends”. Didn’t expect Wayne to pop up on this one but you always gotta have him on the Khaled cuts. Major track from Drizzy once again, pretty much “Started from the Bottom” part 2.

DJ Khaled’s “No New Friends” The Movie

khaled

Khaled is getting ready to drop one huge record with Drake and Rick Ross, I have a feeling this one is about to take over for a while. The song is called “No New Friends” so we can already guess what it’s about. People coming into your life after you’ve made a bunch of money trying to get their shine off you. We can only guess. Until that song drops Khaled released this promo video to get the ball rolling. Check it out below…

Rick Ross discusses being Dropped from Reebok

rick

As you have probably heard already, Rick Ross has been dropped from Reebok after controversial lyrics about rape and several protests outside the Reebok headquarters. Here’s what he had to say about the whole deal.

“I want to thank Reebok Classics for their hard work and dedication over this past year.Good partners, good shoe.continued success.

Before I am an artist, I am a father, a son, and a brother to some of the most cherished women in the world. So for me to suggest in any way that harm and violation be brought to a woman is one of my biggest mistakes and regrets. As an artist, one of the most liberating things is being able to paint pictures with my words. But with that comes a great responsibility. And most recently, my choice of words was not only offensive, it does not reflect my true heart. And for this, I apologize. To every woman that has felt the sting of abuse, I apologize. I recognize that as an artist I have a voice and with that, the power of influence. To the young men who listen to my music, please know that using a substance to rob a woman of her right to make a choice is not only a crime, it’s wrong and I do not encourage it. To my fans, I also apologize if I have disappointed you. I can only hope that this sparks a healthy dialogue and that I can contribute to it.”

Reebok drops Rick Ross

rickross

Looks like all those women petitioning outside of the Reebok store in NYC made something happen and Rick Ross has officially been dropped from Reebok. Here’s the company’s official statement about the decision.

“Reebok holds our partners to a high standard, and we expect them to live up to the values of our brand.  Unfortunately, Rick Ross has failed to do so. While we do not believe that Rick Ross condones sexual assault, we are very disappointed he has yet to display an understanding of the seriousness of this issue or an appropriate level of remorse.”

Rocko Ft. Wiz Khalifa x Future: “U.O.E.N.O. (Remix)”

wiz

With Rick Ross’ verse being thrown off the song because of controversy, Wiz Khalifa takes a shot at the smash hit and it sounds like he’s back to his “Prince of the City” days. No telling if this is going to be the final remix but plan on a lot more rappers getting on this track.

Rocko removes Rick Ross’ verse for “U.O.E.N.O.”

This is what I thought was going to happen. Since Rocko has been looking for a hit for a while now, it sucked seeing him catch all this controversy from Rozay after he finally got one. So his final decision has been made and he will be taking Rock Ross off the song and replacing him with someone else. Apparently a bunch of other artists have already laid their verses, some multi-platinum. Here’s what Rocko had to say about the decision.

“With the record, I did the record—it was for my mixtape. I knew it was a good song but I didn’t know the streets would be so receptive to the record…The record instantly became a smash over the All Star Weekend…”

“The record with Ross, that will always be the original record. But because of the type of traction that the record has, as far as radio all over hte country. It puts me in the position where I have to change it.”

“At the present moment, I have like six different verses from all types of different, talented artists, some multi-platinum. Some might have even have bigger accomplishments like Grammys and things of that nature.”

He also added that he doesn’t know who will be on the final lineup, but with a major track like this one, a lot of artists want to get on.

“In life, you have to put everything on the scale. It’s just like weighing up. You have to do what you have to do. With all respect to the homie Ross, because when I reached out to him and told him about the record, I sent it to him and he sent it right back. You gotta salute that. It’s crazy because it’s a catch-22. I don’t want to take him off, but one thing about it, one thing that’s set in stone, is that he’s always gonna be on that song.”

“The Truth” w/ Elliott Wilson: Rick Ross’ Lyrics

rickross-richkidsbrand

So by now we all know what Rick Ross did on Rocko’s song by throwing in a lyric about drugging and having sex with a woman at the end of the night. This has caused a lot of controversy with several women’s rights groups and is a risk to a lot of Ross’ business partners. So here’s what hip-hop’s #1 journalist Elliott Wilson thinks of it all.
