The Mariners and Robinson Cano have agreed to terms after several days of communication. The contract, which will give Cano $240 million over 10 years, is one of the biggest in MLB history. There are reports Seattle was under the impression that a nine year, $225 million deal would get the job done, but Cano’s agency (Jay Z himself was present) pushed for 10 years and $252 million, which would have tied A-Rod for largest MLB contract ever. At about 3am this morning right here in Seattle, they finally came to agreement to bring Cano to the M’s. Cano has to pass a physical on Monday and then the deal will be official. Great look for the town!
Seattle’s very own SOL drops a new video for his track “Turn Me Loud” today and we absolutely love it. The escaping from the dark garments to all white was a dope creative direction. Shout out to SOL for always putting Seattle on the map and killin’ it in the process.
The TRVP LORD returns this Sunday at Neumo’s and Seattle is going to be ready to turn up in rare form come this weekend. Just got the chills watching this. Sure a lot of people think this is a little too much but if that’s how you’re going to intro “Jesus Walks” then I have no problem with it. When that beat dropped everybody went nuts.

Seattle is pushing out great music non-stop as of late, and we’ve got another incredible project to present to you today. The Flavr Blue is one of Seattle’s newest trios, consisting of musicians Lace, Hollis and Parker, and today they released the Bright Vices EP. The 5 track project consists of crispy new wave production complimented by refreshing vocals with a touch of synth to round out the undeniable cocktail of sound. Their iconic approach to musical creation shines brightest with this new project, pun intended. Hollis glows over tracks like No Remedy and We Can Go Blind, while Parker and Lace match her shine on tracks like Surrender and Magnetic, the latter of which Esquire Magazine featured today upon it’s release.
The downtempo dish, Hearts Racing, is the song that really caught my attention upon first listen. This song truly captures not only the dynamic style The Flavr Blue has, but it also showcases the versatility of all three of them. Parker’s haunting, slow grind breakbeat that transitions into an uptempo bridge, only to drop you back into the clouds is effortless and elegant. Hollis’ airy vocals are right at home on the track, and as she says in her verse, she has you chasing the high. Lace’s sultry entrance into the song freezes time for a moment, and actually allows you to visualize what you’re hearing if that makes sense.
Overall the entire project is an great body of work, and an excellent listen no matter if you’re a fan of R & B, Downtempo, Ambient, House, New Wave, Pop, Electro, Indie, or whatever else you want to call it. The Flavr Blue has arrived, and they’re here to stay. You can see download Bright Vices for a limited time for FREE from The Flavr Blue’s official site, or you can purchase it for only $3 on iTunes. Show your support and enjoy the jams.
Looks like Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are still killing these music awards as they’ve just picked up 6 new nominations at the American Music Awards. Their nominations include artist of the year, new artist of the year, single of the year, favorite artist in hip-hop, group of the year, and favorite album. Absolutely killin’ it once again. Can’t wait to see how many they win.
The fam iLL Chris just dropped his new music video for “The Glove” which pays homage to the Seatown legend Gary Payton and the new kicks that just dropped. Dope visuals from around the town with throwback game clips included. Yo!X on the track too!
When it comes to rappers from the town you definitely do not want to sleep on Livio. He may be from Seattle but the production on this mixtape is from all over the place. You get Mike Zombie, Stevie J, Vitamin D, Kuddie Fresh, and many more. Seriously don’t skip out on this one. We’re proud of our fam Livio for another very dope mixtape. Download “Can I Liv” below.
There’s not much to say about this run, Marshawn just straight killed it. So glad the Seahawks ended up winning this very close game 23-20. 4-0 Baby!
