“Defining power and who possesses it is an ever-changing equation. It’s a challenge that Billboard editors revisit each year with the Power Players series, which includes Women in Music, Latin Power Players, this year’s inaugural Power 100 and the upcoming 40 Under 40. To that roster, add this issue’s inaugural Urban Power List, profiling the 25 biggest players in the industry. The unranked tally targets executives whose concentration is urban, not executives who have oversight of urban music but also substantial responsibilities with other genres.”
It feels like Cash Money gets sued about every day at this point. This time it’s EMI and they are saying that the record label owes around $490,000 in unpaid royalties. Here’s the official statement.
“Because Defendant has ignored numerous communications from EMI regarding Defendant’s contractual obligations, EMI once more is being forced to commence a lawsuit against Defendant to recover royalty payments,” the complaint states. “The sales of Defendant’s products have far exceeded the payments that EMI has received.”
“It is clear from Defendant’s conduct that it has no intention of honoring the Agreement,” the complaint continues. _Source
Sure seems like Baby has been giving out a lot of cars lately. He bought a Bentley for himself and Lil’ Wayne, a Phantom for Mack Maine, and now he got Slim (his big bro) a Maybach. Taking care of everybody these days, what does Drake get?
The streets aren’t safe for either side of this story. With the victim’s mom begging and pleading for the killer of her son to turn himself in at funeral footage, finally an arrest has been made. Atlanta rapper named Young Vito (Vincent Hardimon) surrendered to authorities today in connection with the murder of Brick Squad recording artist Slim Dunkin. No word yet on whether or not Hardimon was the shooter, we will update you as this story develops.
Been waiting on this mixtape. Bun B gives us some new music along with some cuts that you might have already heard. Always putting down for his town naming the mixtape “Houston”.
Slim Dunkin whose real name is Mario Hamilton died Friday after being shot in the chest at an Atlanta studio. Apparently he got in an altercation with some guys at the studio and shots were fired at his chest. Slim Dunkin was part of Brick Squad and affiliated with Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka. He was filming a music video at the time of the shooting.
Looks like Stunna is on the cover of another major magazine. I feel like people are starting to forget who started this whole rap Super Group with the Hot Boyz. This is what Baby had to say about Weezy and workin’ with him in the new issue dropping June 7th.
“Honestly, I gave him the floor,” Baby says of Weezy. “He wanted it. I been with him since he was seven years old, eight years old. I been in his life all of his life, and he was like, “Let me handle, it.” At the time, me as an artist, losing my sister and everything I was going through personally, I was just like, ‘Go ahead, I’ma just support what you gon’ do. You can handle it.’ And I took a step back. Probably was the smartest move I ever made in my life was to let him go ‘head.”
